Year 4 have been planning their perfect, balanced sandwich. We looked at a healthy food plate and discussed different ingredients that we would need to make a healthy sandwich. We have been discussing that we can have any food in moderation. Check out some of our creations!
We then ate our delicious sandwiches and some of us took them home for our families to try.
The Year 4 children have been riding their bikes in school. We completed our Level 1 Bike Ability and now we can ride comfortably through cones, turning our heads and using hand signals to turn. This will support us when we complete our Level 2 and begin to ride on the roads.
Some of the children weren’t able to ride their bikes before the session, but they now can ride comfortably. The other children have been learning some tips and tricks to help them ride more smoothly. We have been using our gears, riding with a partner and using our breaks for an emergency stop.
All of the children worked so hard and have completed their Level 1 Bike Ability successfully. Well done!
We have been working really hard in our PE lessons to build our strength and speed. In our PE lesson, we put our skills to the test on an assault course. We had to run, climb, balance and swing on the rope. We gave it a try by ourselves and then we worked in teams to build our team working skills. Everyone was excellent!
In science we have been learning about states of matter. We have identified a range of solids, liquids and gases and discussed how to change the state of them. We made Oobleck and were amazed that it can be a solid and a liquid.
The area outside our school is busy in the morning and at the end of the school day. Some drivers park irresponsibly, potentially placing children in danger. We have been working with the Local Authority who have helped create a ‘5-minute protective Walking Bubble’ around our school so that everyone can travel safely and actively to school. Our walking bubble map can be view below.
We are asking those who are able to walk, cycle or scooter to school as much as possible. Also, for those who must drive, to use their car as little as possible for school journeys and when they do drive park at least 5 minutes from the school gates and walk the rest of the way.
Can we remind parents to please park considerately to the local residents.
