Year 5 and 6 Police Visit

Year 5 and 6 Police Visit

Year 5 and 6 were lucky enough to receive a visit from a Police Community Support Officer last week. She spoke to us all about keeping safe in the community, managing road safety and what to do if we’re worried that a crime might be being committed. This was especially useful as many of us are now travelling to and from school with friends or on our own. We really enjoyed talking about safety and can’t wait for the next visit!

Year 5 Time-lining

Year 5 Time-lining

Today, Year 5 created timelines of equal intervals (100 years each) to show more than 3000 years of history! We plotted the period of Ancient Greece and then added the period of our own lives. We were so shocked to see how little time we have been alive compared with the huge amount of time that has gone before us. We went on to add other significant periods that we have studied in school, such as Roman Britain and Ancient Egypt.

Getting Fit in Year 5!

Getting Fit in Year 5!

Year 5 have been working hard and building up a regular sweat in PE lessons this half-term. We have been working on improving our stamina, speed and strength in a Fitness block of learning. It’s been tough work at times but we have encouraged each other and shown determination to complete each exercise.

Democracy and New Additions in Year 5

Democracy and New Additions in Year 5

Year 5 welcomed two new friends into class today. A Mr and Mrs Hedgehog, who have both made from the pages of old repurposed books, and have become lovely additions to our class library. Everyone had ideas for what their names should be, so to decide we held a class vote, where we all got to have a say. We learnt that this right to give our opinions on big decisions originated from Ancient Greece, which we are going to find out more about in our History topic this term. We can’t wait!
